To Parents:
It is with great pleasure and anticipation that I welcome you and your child to the 2017-2018 school year! The math department has a lot of exciting plans to engage our students in the discovery of mathematics, build upon mathematical understanding and encourage critical thinking.
It will be very important for our students to be present, prepared and engaged in all activities. It is my goal to challenge my students to be the best student they can be and to impress themselves with their level of mathematical understanding. Welcome to the best year ever!
To Students:
Preparation and understanding are the most important words in mathematics. Seek both. when you need help, ask questions, make extra time to get extra help before or after school, have a study buddy, do your homework, and practice-practice-practice.
You are preparing for your future everyday. The more you put in now, the more you will get out of life later. This is the absolute best time of your life. All of your choices are now. Choose wisely and profit forever. Choose foolishly and you will regret it forever. Forever is a very long time.
Class Preparation and Make Up Work
It is your responsibility to come to class prepared to work with your materials.
If you are absent the day homework is assigned, you must make-up that homework assignment. All made up or missing assignments will be collected on "make-up day". Only students who are absent are eligible to make up any missed assignments. Understand that it is your responsibility to ask the teacher for make up work when you return to class. Forgotten homework cannot be made up.
Classroom Expectation
> Be in class, seated and ready to work when the bell rings.
> Eating or drinking is prohibited during class.
> Raise your hand to be recognized.
> Respect authority, yourself and your peers in every thought and action.
> Follow directions the first time they are given.
Grading Scale
A = 3.50 - 4.00 | 90-100%
B = 2.50 - 3.49 | 80-89%
C = 1.50 - 2.49 | 70-79%
D = 1.00 - 1.49 | 60-69
F = 0.00 - 0.99 | 0-59
Z = Zero - Not Done
X = Excused - No Penalty
